Imported from Norway by famous local artist Alfred Heaton Cooper, this delightfully idiosyncratic cabin has been used as a studio, shop and tearoom. Today, it is a relaxed contemporary restaurant, serving original flavoursome dishes made from top-quality seasonal produce. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm each evening.
Our view: An unusual building with a unique atmosphere complementing delicious food. One of their best dishes is a bramley apple and summer fruit compote topped with Grasmere Gingerbread crumbs served with vanilla bean custard!

Celebrity chef Peter Sidwell’s café/restaurant and delicatessen in Keswick serves a range of tasty dishes and foodstuffs. He uses Grasmere Gingerbread in several of his recipes, including his popular pork burgers which incorporate Grasmere Gingerbread crumbs. Open Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 5pm.
Our view: Energetic, enthusiastic and eager to experiment, Peter Sidwell has created a jewel of an eating place. A great place for kids and his special evening events are fabulous.
